California Student Sustainability Coalition (CSSC)
Fall Quarter 2009, UCSC had the opportunity & privilege to host the California Student Sustainability Coalition (CSSC) Fall Convergence!
CSSC Convergences are ideal spaces for California students and alumni of higher education to come together, share their knowledge & ideas, create personal connections with one another, cook & eat & laugh & dance together, celebrate our successes, & of course plan aggressive & strategic sustainability campaigns on the local campus, statewide & federal levels!
Ultimately it was our goal to have members of the Student Environmental Center (SEC), Campus Sustainability Council (CSC), Education for Sustainable Living Program (ESLP), Green Campus Program (GCP), (Friends of) Community Agroecology Network ((FO)CAN), Food Systems Working Group (FSWG), Program in Community & Agroecology (PICA), Path to a Greener Stevenson, and other working groups & SOAR orgs (not necessarily sustainability related) etc.. all working together, (re)building relationships, identifying & making connections between each other, our organizations, & our sustainability related projects. If you are interested in CSSC, visit their website.
At this Fall Quarter 2009 CSSC Convergence, Toshi Barks, Eva Stevens, and Annie Aguiniga led a workshop on the ESLP Model so that students interested in our program could get the information they need to expand the program to their university.
In the Spring 2010, Mia Renauld and MacKenzie Price led a workshop on the ESLP model, experiential learning, and working with institutions to bring student teaching-student learning to universities.
