How do I enroll in ESLP?
ESLP offers a 5-unit and a 2-unit course every Spring Quarter. Courses are open to everyone and can be found on the myucsc portal under College Eight courses as CLEI 161 and CLEI 61 respectively. The Courses are titled simply "Sustainable Living". Section topics are chosen by the student on the first day of lecture enrolled. Students who enroll early receive priority.
Will ESLP satisfy any of my General Ed requirements?
No, but depending on your major you might be able to petition for it to count as a substitution.
Can I take CELI 161 or CELI 61 a second time for credit?
No, either course can only be taken ONE TIME for credit. If you have already taken CLEI 161 (5- unit) you can take CLEI 61 (2-unit) for credit, vice versa. You may not be enrolled in both courses in the same quarter.
If I want to Facilitate again, can I take the Winter Training Seminar (CLEI 160) again and receive credit a second time?
As of now second time facilitators can not take repeat the winter training seminar to receive credit, However; facilitators may be able to audit the course in order to lead another Spring Section Facilitating Spring Sections can be repeated for credit, as they are listed as an independent study .
How does the 2-unit class differ from the 5-unit class?
Both courses attend the once a week Guest Lecture Series. 2-unit courses meet once a week outside of class, 5-units courses meet twice a week. The 2-units are discussion sections. The 5-units are more in depth and and (may) include research and implementation of a project.
What kinds of topics will be discussed in lecture?
Topics change from year to year and with each Guest Lecturer but the lecture series is designed to strengthen students’ fundamental understanding of current environmental issues and of sustainable living. Lecture topics are always in accordance with the topics outlined in the Blueprint for a Sustainable Campus.

How is my ESLP grade evaluated? (who is responsible for the students in a student-run class)
Your ESLP grade will be determined by your student facilitator and reviewed by the Student organizers and staff persons. Evaluations will be based on attendance and completion/quality of the assignments listed on your syllabus.
What can I do to get more involved with ESLP? How do I become a facilitator? How do I become an organizer?

Future Organizers- Organizing for ESLP is a year long commitment! Recruitment for the following year starts around Spring Quarter and continues until all positions are filled (as late as the beginning of Fall Quarter). E-mail us, or check the website periodically throughout Spring Quarter to find informational meeting times, applications, and important deadlines.
Where Does ESLP receive its funding from?
ESLP Receives Funding from the Campus Sustainability Council (CSC). CSC provides funding to registered UCSC student organizations for programs and events that create, implement, and monitor environmentally sound practices on campus as established through the protocol outlined in the Blueprint for a Sustainable Campus. ESLP also receives funding through through grant opportunities, like Measure 43.
When Was ESLP Founded?
ESLP was founded as a statewide program in 2004. ESLP currently has branches open on UCSC, UCD, and UCLA campuses.
